Road Sign Teacher

On the computerThere are a lot of road signs out there. Whilst everybody knows what the most common road signs mean, there are a large number that you may not encounter that often and so it is important to know what they mean. Road signs convey you with knowledge, and that knowledge can be important in keeping yourself and other road users safe. Being forewarned is forearmed, so for instance if you know that a particular sign is telling you that there is a lane closure ahead this allows you to react and move across in good time. Not knowing what road signs means as a road user could therefore put yourself and other road users at risk.

It is also surprising how many road signs that you do see regularly often that a noticeable percentage of road users are not actually fully cognisant of what they mean. This simple road sign teacher will display a random road sign chosen each time the page is viewed, and you must ask yourself what it means. When you have decided what the answer is, click reveal. See how many you know: you may be very good at road signs, but many users report being surprised at the number they are uncertain of, which is where this simple tool to help you learn road signs comes in! There is also a page containing a test of a range of road signs for you to tackle too in multiple choice format.

Below you will see a sign chosen at random. It might be a road sign, a warning sign, or even a sign that might appear on a vehicle to let you know what the purpose of that vehicle is or perhaps the contents of that vehicle.

Work out what the sign means, then click to see if you got it right. If you would like to try another road sign, then simply click to see another Road Sign each time you click.

If you are learning to drive, and learning road signs for the first time, then you should study the highway code which contains all the road signs. There are also some general rules of thumb that can be used to help you work out whether a sign is, for instance, a warning, or providing useful information to you. There is an article about UK road signs that it would be useful to read before using this road sign teacher / road sign learning tool.
